Just diving in with a few, super-fast updates, friends!
The first thing that came to mind when I saw the photos of Helena Christensen in her new role as ambassador for Hårklinikken hair care?
Wicked Game, Chris Isaak.
Anyone else hearing it now?
As WWD reports this morning, Helena just signed to the Danish brand, which she has been using for a few years and is based in Copenhagen, where was born. The range has a big following in Denmark, and is renowned for its personalised regimes, and formulations which help to promote stronger hair growth.
“Hair plays a very important role in my life,” Helena tells WWD. “We all know what it feels like to go through periods where you might be shedding more hair than normal — it makes you concerned even if you have a lot of hair, and especially as a woman you talk about it with your friends.”
In terms of targeting the midlife market, the collab is obviously spot-on.
“We generally only think about how our hair looks, without realising that the health of your hair is what will actually make it look and feel its best,” she adds.
Actually, I love her choppy, layered, mid-length style in the shoot.
Brain Health Book Club
In wellness news, I just want to flag cup that the wonderful
has just started a book club, deep-diving The Menopause Brain, by Dr Lisa Mosconi, at her Substack, . Paid subscribers can participate fully in the comments, but the posts are available to all to read (I mentioned Dr Mosconi’s book last month, and it’s superb).(Sidenote: at the time of posting, I just spotted that The Menopause Brain is just £1.99 on Kindle.)
A shout-out, too, to Annie’s ongoing series on the cognitive health benefits of tea drinking , and coffee gets a look in, too. My formidable, super-sharp Italian nonna loved her Lavazza Rossa. Whenever I visited, the days were punctuated by the bubbling of her Moka pot on the stove.
A thank you!
I’m so grateful for the lovely words included about The Midlife Beauty Edit this week at
, where you’ll find posts such as yesterday’s, on beauty, to this moving essay which touches on midlife, the different stages of motherhood, and home. Finally, while we’re thinking of summer swimsuits, don’t forget this high street, designer lookalike. (It’s still in stock, I just checked!)
I LOVE that hair style - and aim for mine to be quite similar (though it's obvs not!) Have just ordered The Menopause Brain on Kindle and can't wait to read this weekend. On another note, thanks so much for your rec of the M&S cossie - I got one in olive and wore it in Spain - it's lovely! PS) if you purchase said cossie, remember to apply SPF to the little decorative gap at the front otherwise you will end up with a red circle on your chest (hmmm maybe that was just me?) Have a fab long weekend! Lisa xsx
I had the good fortune to see Dr. Mosconi speak and she is amazing!! Haven't read her newer book yet but it's on the list!
