Happy new week - I hope yours is off to a great start!
Today, the prep and the products behind some of the most gorgeous looks at the 2024 Emmy Awards, plus a few other beauty news stories.
ALSO! The Midlife Beauty Edit Chat opens TOMORROW 🎉, for paid subscribers – come say hi!
So many looks – too many for a news update! – but Jennifer Aniston lit up the red carpet at the Emmys.
Along with her Oscar de la Renta gown and Tiffany sparkle (Jen sported a diamond tennis bracelet), her top-to-toe gleam came with the help of Chanel No 5 The Body Oil, which makeup artist Angela Levin applied, leaving her skin with a subtle glow and the iconic scent.
Makeup-wise, Angela used all-Chanel products, including one of my favourites - Le Volume De Chanel mascara in Noir. I first discovered this instantly lash-fattening formula as a mini sample, and the travel-friendly tube lasted for months - it’s ALWAYS worth asking (*cue midlife stampede to Chanel counters*).
Angela also used Chanel Inimitable Mascara in Brun.
“For the lips, I applied a combination of Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour in Mademoiselle, followed by a layer of Rouge Coco Baume in Natural Charm,” shared Angela.
A peek at the behind-the-scenes prep …
Jen’s hair had been brightened with butter blonde highlights before the event, and then her longtime hair stylist, Chris McMillan, created what he called the “long california girl effortless beauty” look on the night.
Meanwhile, Jen’s The Morning Show co-star Greta Lee looked amazing, in a white lace Loewe dress and with makeup by Nina Parks using Guerlain. (Nina also created Brie Larson’s makeup for the event.)
The secret to Greta’s perfectly polished, natural nails? “We went for “Clean Shine Buff” 🤍✨” shared her nail technician, Emi Kudo.
Greta’s hair was styled in the chicest centre part by hair stylist Jenny Cho, who used Kristin Ess’ Instant Lift Volumizing Mousse to create body and lift, and styled using a large round brush, and a 2” Curling Iron.
Speaking of stylish centre parts, Mindy Kalig looked stunning with her hair styled by Nai'vasha, with dramatic eyes—those lashes!—and shiny, cherry mocha lips courtesy of makeup artist Eva Kim.
Actress, founder of Stripes Beauty and an advocate for menopause awareness, Naomi Watts attended the 76th Emmy Awards with her husband, Billy Crudup.
On Instagram, she revealed that she primed her skin for the red carpet using Stripes Beauty’s The Full Monty, a squalene-based, hydrating body oil with Vitamin C.
Naomi’s sleek bob was styled with a side-part by hair stylist Robert Vetica, using Kerasilk products.
Speaking of jaw-skimming bobs …
Naomi has been showing off her fringed, fresh fall cut (here, wearing a Dolce & Gabbana gown, posted at the weekend).
And on the topic of the Supers, if you liked Apple TV’s The Supermodels series, you’ll love In Vogue: The 90s, on Disney+ - have you caught any clips yet?
The “definitive story of the fashion industry in the '90s” premiered last week, featuring behind-the-scenes footage at the Vogue offices, runway shows and interviews with Anna Wintour, designers, the OG Supers, and celebs including Gwyneth Paltrow, Elizabeth Hurley and Victoria Beckham (who reveals that her 90s pixie cut was inspired by Linda Evangelista’s).
The first three episodes are up, and the next three will air this Friday, 20 September. Wear your 🕶️.

Look out for this Friday’s special edition, with a curated edit of autumn scents on a budget, that you’ll want to wear NOW! I’ve gone spritzing so you don’t have to - think gorgeously warm, deliciously ‘nuzzly’ scents to fall for (apologies) without busting your budget.
So looking forward to that documentary (and to you spritzing into my inbox!)! Xo
I cannot wait to catch the 90's documentary!
